This itinerary covers Northern Tanzania’s highlights: Tarangire National Park (1 night), famous for large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees; Serengeti National Park – Central Serengeti (2 nights), a prime area for big cats and abundant wildlife; and Ngorongoro Crater (1 night), celebrated for its dramatic scenery and dense animal population — before returning to Arusha.
A taste of what to expect…
Day 1 Arusha to Tarangire
Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full-day game drive.
Tanzania’s third-largest park is famous for majestic baobab trees and the Tarangire River, attracting some of Africa’s largest elephant herds.
Wildlife sightings may include lions, leopards, cheetahs, lesser kudu, buffalo, oryx, eland, giraffes, and zebras.
Return to your camp or lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Tarangire to Central Serengeti
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park and explore its vast, iconic grasslands.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive across the plains, spotting wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and possibly lions resting in the shade.
A picnic lunch will be served during the game drive.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 Central Serengeti
Today you explore the central Serengeti National Park, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park.
Choose between a relaxed breakfast with a full-day game drive from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, or an early 6:00 AM morning drive, breakfast, and an afternoon safari with packed lunch.
The Seronera River attracts abundant wildlife, including large prides of lions and leopards, offering excellent viewing year-round.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during the safari, and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight around 5:00–6:00 PM.
Day 4 Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Day 5 - Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) to Arusha
On your final day, start early with a quick breakfast and descend around 6:30 AM into the Ngorongoro Crater floor.
Enjoy a 5-hour game drive across this 260 sq km volcanic caldera, spotting elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, lions, and other wildlife.
Have a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool before ascending the crater walls.
Drive approximately 4 hours back to Arusha, arriving around 6:00 PM, concluding your safari adventure with unforgettable memories.
